Mark your calendars for our Rochester Real Beer Week events. We're kicking it off with Bombs Away on Friday, June 15 - bomber specials all day and an opportunity to sample rarely-in-Rochester bombers from 5-7pm:

Wednesday, June 20 - Belgian Beer & Bites 2 - Electric Boogaloo A special Beer & Bites featuring 5 courses of Belgian beers and small plate pairings, hosted by Dem Jones. Tickets are $40 and are on sale now at the bar.

Thursday, June 21 - Drink Like Your Dad - Enjoy some classic throwback beers and live music.

On Tap: Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale

Southern Hemisphere Harvest Fresh Hop Ale, an American IPA (6.7% ABV) from Sierra Nevada Brewing Company in Chico, California. "This is the first time we know of that an American brewer has put out a beer with fresh-picked hops from the southern hemisphere. This ale features fresh Pacific Hallertau, New Zealand Motueka and New Zealand Southern Cross hops, all from New Zealand. New Zealand's hop harvest season runs from late February through April.

Like our Celebration Ale, the fresh hops in this beer are dried right after being picked then shipped immediately to Chico for brewing so that they retain their peak aromatics and flavors. To ensure the freshest hops possible, we went to the added expense of flying these hops from New Zealand to Chico so we could brew with them the week after they were picked." - from Sierra Nevada's website

Wednesdays are Pierogie Guy Day

Wednesdays are Pierogie Guy Day - today we're serving Buffalo Chicken Pierogies (Pierogie Guy's best seller) sauteed with onions in a garlic butter sauce garnished with crumbled blue cheese. On Tap: Innis & Gunn Original Oak-Aged Beer, a Scottish ale (6.6% ABV) from Innis & Gunn Brewery in Scotland. "Like the world's great wine and whiskey makers we strive for depth of flavour, complexity and mellowness in every beer we produce – Innis & Gunn Original typifies this approach.

Its lengthy 77-day maturation imparts flavours of toffee, vanilla and oak that perfectly complement the beer's backbone of luscious malt and fruity hop notes. The oak helps to give Innis & Gunn Original its appealing colour and also mellow the alcohol character, so although the beer is 6.6%, it's very smooth and easy to drink." - Innis & Gunn website

Crusing the Canal on the Colonial Belle

The Colonial Belle made its way back to Fairport this week to open their 2012 season.

Established in 1989, the Colonial Belle is a family owned and operated business. The Colonial Belle is the largest tour boat operating on the historic Erie Canal. The Belle is U.S. Coast Guard certified to carry 149 passengers with a fully accessible enclosed lower salon and an upper open air deck – a great way to experience the canal.

American Craft Beer Week Celebration at Donnelly's

Monday, May 14 – $5 Three Heads Pitchers. We kick off American Craft Beer Week with $5 pitchers of Three Heads beer, our May Brewery of the Month. Great night to get a group together to enjoy some of Rochester's best craft beer from our good friends at Three Heads paired with our $5 Monday menu special.

Tuesday, May 15 - Craft Brew & BBQ. BBQ Specials served all day to go with the great craft beer we have on tap. Here's the menu:
• Chicken And Ribs - A quarter dry rubbed chicken, a half rack of BBQ baby back ribs, salt potatoes, jalapeno Cole slaw and country corn. $17.99
• BBQ Pork Drums - Pork drums (two... at lunch, three for diner) in your choice of BBQ sauce with corn bread and red beans and rice. $10.99/$12.99
• Spicy Catfish - Catfish in a Creole spiced stewed tomato broth served with corn bread and red beans and rice. $11.99
• Smoked Beef Brisket - Hickory smoked beef brisket with a Carolina Red BBQ sauce served with corned bread, salt potatoes and country corn. $12.99
